Put The Suburbs on repeat and days could pass before the urge to change the record takes hold.
BBC - Music - Review of Arcade Fire - The Suburbs
I’d have to agree with this sentiment. The Suburbs has been a bit of a slow-burner for me. It didn’t jump up and smack me in the face like Funeral/Neon Bible did, but it has totally grown on me. The entire album sits perfectly as a whole. I would find it difficult to single out any one song—unlike Wake Up (from Funeral) & No Cars Go (from Neon Bible).
The Suburbs is a clear sign The Arcade Fire have matured since their first LP release way back in 2004. Slightly melancholic, beautifully constructed and well worth buying. So yeah—do that: buy it, buy it now.
