Japan Day 5

I can very easily imagine myself living in Japan. Either Kyoto or Tokyo - I’m not that fussy. Today on our travels I think I found the place I’d most like to live, though: Shimokitazawa. According to Wikipedia Shimokitazawa is where all the stage-theatre and live music is at. We noticed lots of awesome op shops, cafes, bars and interesting looking little bars.

This morning was spent walking the alleys of Shimokitazawa and investigating the shops and cafes which tickled our fancy.

This evening we met up with Nick (@coldicott) who took us to an excellent little izakaya in Daikanyama (you’ll remember Daikanyama from our first day in Tokyo). It’s so good to talk to people who live in this city and can give you the skinny on what local life is like.

After dinner Nick took Mike, Morgan and myself out to Shibuya for more drinks. We went to two insanely awesome bars that were tiny but very well formed.

Nick — thanks again for an bloody excellent night out! Whenever you’re in Auckland you’ll have a place to stay and people to show you around!

Today’s photos will be in two batches: day and night.
