Japan Day 6
Another fantastic day in Japanistan! We headed out west to Studio Ghibli, where we saw all manner of awesome things but were unfortunately not allowed to photograph. I managed to take a few sneaky snaps while outdoors where it seemed like it was okay.
After that Manda, Terence (yeah — we met up with Terence!) and I peeled off back to Yotsuya where we went to an awesome little basement restaurant...

Japan Day 5
I can very easily imagine myself living in Japan. Either Kyoto or Tokyo - I’m not that fussy. Today on our travels I think I found the place I’d most like to live, though: Shimokitazawa. According to Wikipedia Shimokitazawa is where all the stage-theatre and live music is at. We noticed lots of awesome op shops, cafes, bars and interesting looking little bars.
This morning was spent...

Japan Day 4
These boots definately aren’t made for walking… My feet are in pain but the rest of me is stoked! Tokyo is an amazing place. So many people stuffed into this city and everything runs flawlessly. Other cities can (and should) learn a lot from Japan.
Anyway — enough of my mindless bullshit. Here are some photos from day 4.

Japan Day 3
Today was mainly a day of travel by foot and by rail.
We left Kyoto and traveled by Shinkansen (bullet train) to Tokyo. This took a couple hours and was totally fucking awesome! Once in Tokyo we navigated our way around the city rail and subways to get to our hotel which is in Yotsuya, and a very nice hotel indeed. Just behind it in the narrow back streets there are heaps of awesome restaurants...

Japan Day 2
Today was about two things: Cycling & Culture.
Amanda organised an excellent day out for us: a half-day cycle tour around Kyoto (via the back streets.) Kyoto is a dream to cycle around: flat, cycle friendly and today the weather was designed for cycling; a lovely 17°C and clear blue skies.
But before we get to that I’ll show you what we had for breakfast.

Japan Day 1
Ambitious, I know. But I really need to document this trip. So my plan is to take photos every day with my trusty iPhone, perform some crafty edits with Camera +. Once that’s done I’m going to put them up here for future generations… or at least my friends & family.
So without further a-do…

Thomas Fuchs has created exactly what jQuery mobile should be — a lightweight framework that does away with a lot of the cross-platform cruft that weighs down jQuery, designed just for mobile. It also does away with all of the fake, timing-based animations that most javascript frameworks use and shifts animations and transitions to CSS3. It’s even got touch events!
